IRS Representation

IRS Representation

There’s never a need to be scared if an audit is requested.
The IRS has gone to great effort recently to present a public image of not being so scary. But even if a request is 20% “kinder and gentler” than it used to be, it still can be a shock to be notified about possible tax errors or a need for an audit. Since many audits can take place years after a problem may have occurred with a tax return, individuals or employees may not even remember specific financial details.

The team at Baker & Associates CPAs is happy to provide reassurance to any of our clients who may be asked to meet with the IRS, the Ohio Department of Taxation, or any other taxing entity. Our support includes helping clients prepare and gather any requested or missing paperwork, as well as actually accompanying them and representing them at any meetings if requested.

This type of professional representation can be vital during an audit, and our experience with tax authorities enables us to offer quality guidance to our clients during any dealings with federal or state agencies.

Providing reassurance
The first thing we tell our clients is that they can put many of their worries at bay. In most cases, an audit is based on a need for a clarification or a request for supplemental documentation, rather than accusations of anything criminal or illegal taking place.

An in-person audit is actually sometimes a useful way to resolve any incomplete information in an individual or business tax filing, and then coming up with a plan that satisfies everyone and results in all parties making sure that everything is in compliance.

When we meet with clients prior to an audit appointment, we’re always ready and willing to answer any and all questions that they may have about what’s happening. Because we’ve sat in on many audits for our clients, we’re familiar with how the discussion can often go, including what’s taking place and what questions typically are asked.

If you’ve been notified about a need for an audit, please contact us! We’re happy to help.
